How Punta de Lobos works

Now 12:00Updated four times a day
  • SwellGood

From the south-west (236°). The best direction for this beach. Period 13 s: long, powerful waves.

  • WindGood

19 km/h from the south-west: it's cross-offshore, from the land at an angle. Mostly clean.

  • TideCareful

0.4 m, low and falling. It works on every tide, best on low to mid.

  • SizeGood

    2.5–3 m. Its best size: 1.8–3.6 m.

  • CurrentBad

The current is strong today. With waves over 2.0 m it pulls harder than usual.

In general

  • The break

A left point over rock and sand. Its sections: Los Morros, El Mirador, La Rampa, El Diamante and Escuelitas.

  • Swell

With a 14 to 17-second south-west swell it grows much bigger than offshore. A west swell makes the point smaller.

  • Tide

Low to mid tide is best. At high tide the sea covers the Morros platform.

  • Current

There is always a current. From about 2 m it is strong, and on big days it can pull toward Los Morros.

  • Access

From September to January the Fundación asks surfers not to use the Morros entry. Birds are nesting.
